Not everything worth keeping lives on a platform pvdownloader happens to know about. If you have a direct link to a media file — a self-hosted video, a CDN URL, a stream from a site nobody has written an integration for — paste it and the app resolves it the same way it does a supported page. Progressive files download as they are; an .m3u8 playlist is read first and expanded into its individual quality variants.

Dedicated Audio & Subtitle Extraction

When you only want the soundtrack, pvdownloader pulls the audio track out without touching the video. You can keep it bit-for-bit in its original codec, or convert to a clean 320kbps MP3 or lossless FLAC. Subtitles come down as tidy .SRT or .VTT files, and can be embedded directly into the output container if you prefer a single file.

High-Res Thumbnail Grabber

Alongside the media itself, pvdownloader can save the artwork that goes with it — thumbnails, poster frames and channel banners, at the highest resolution the platform exposes. Zero-Friction Updates

Platforms change their internals constantly, and an extractor that stopped working yesterday is worthless. pvdownloader ships both an installer with background delta updates and a self-contained portable ZIP that leaves no trace on the host system. Update checks can be disabled entirely if you would rather control the timing yourself.

Download Queue & Notifications

A downloader is only useful if you can hand it a list and walk away. Add links while a transfer is already running and they join the queue; the number that run in parallel is a setting, not a fixed default, so you can keep a slow connection usable or push a fast one harder. Each job reports its own progress and remaining time, and desktop notifications tell you when a download completes or fails without you watching the window.

HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 Proxies

Some networks make downloading impossible without help, and some people simply prefer not to expose their own address. Configure a proxy once and it applies to the whole job — the page scan and the transfer itself, not just the first request. If the proxy fails, the app can retry once without it so a single bad hop does not waste the download. Nothing about the proxy is logged or sent anywhere else.

Seven Languages, Light or Dark

The app follows your system language and your system theme by default, and both can be pinned to something else if the system guess is wrong. The light theme is a designed counterpart rather than an inverted copy: contrast, surfaces and accents were all chosen for it separately.
